Submission and Humility

We live in a society filled with rampant narcissism and pride. This is one of the most severe, Epicurean, “me, me, me” generations in human history.

Wives refuse to submit to their husbands and the younger generations abhor their elders (remember the “OK boomer” trend?).

Submission and humility are in short supply. If God gives grace to the humble, is it no wonder why it seems that grace is in such short supply these days?

If submission is willingly allowing someone else to have authority over you, who do you submit to? If we cannot submit to the Lord, how could we possibly submit to the law, employers, or pastors?

We Americans are products of the “self-made man” archetype, and it has done us no favors. We were raised to not give credit to God or others for shaping us into who we are. Now look at the fruits of that carnal, secular humanist worldview.

We need to get back to the Bible basics. This verse is a great reminder of how to begin our journey to a better life for ourselves and others.

Praise the Lord for EVERY interaction (both good and bad), because each one gives us the opportunity to learn humility and submission to God, so that He will dispense His grace to us.
