“Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.”
Jeremiah 45:4
This verse is about Israel, God’s chosen nation. However, I believe it can be applied to the United States as well.
This country was founded on Christian principles, even if not all of the Founders were Christians. The US of A never had an official State religion, but was built using the Bible as a blueprint.
Over our nearly 250 years of existence, God has built us up. Like Israel, we have seen periods of darkness, but the good that America has accomplished cannot be ignored.
A bunch of farmers defeated the greatest military on earth to gain independence. We have experienced the greatest expansion of wealth and technology that the world has ever seen.
We have lifted more people out of poverty though our inventions and influence than any country on the planet.
We are still the wealthiest and most God fearing nation in history. God has built us up, but I believe He is beginning to break us down.
The Lord can pluck up this entire land if He wills it. Look around, does it not feel like we are in judgment right now?
Race riots, pandemics, poverty, famine, mental illnesses, natural disasters, and a leadership class with no moral scruples are not what this country was built on, but they are what will break us.
Those of us who are saved need to fall on our knees and pray. We need to ask God for one last Great Awakening before the United States is completely gone.
Those who are unsaved need to repent of their sins, confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and BELIEVE with all their hearts, souls, and minds, that Jesus died for our sins and rose again.
That is the one and only way to save this nation. Each of us must repent and believe, and God may spare us from impending destruction.
If God can break Israel – and He did just that through scattering the Jews among the nations and allowing the Holocaust – then He can certainly break the United States of America.
