“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.”
Ezekiel 16:49-50
This is the United States of America in 2020.
“Pride”
Oh, yes. On a national and personal level, America suffers from pride.
“Fulness of bread”
The USA is the single fattest nation in history. We also have more money for food than any other country.
“Abundance of idleness”
In most years, Americans have an abundance of leisure time. In 2020, even more so. They used to say, “idle hands are the Devil’s playthings.” Look around. The Devil is playing.
“Neither did she strengthen the poor and needy”
Despite our immense wealth, the poor and needy still suffer. It is not due to a lack of government programs, but because we the people do not do as much as we could or should to help out the less fortunate.
“They were haughty”
Haughty is a another term for arrogant. Not just are we Americans prideful, but we, as a nation, are downright arrogant. We look down on other cultures, and we look down at others in our own culture with disdain.
“And committed abomination”
Homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22), cross dressing (Deuteronomy 22:5), lying lips (Proverbs 12:22), kings (leaders) who commit wickedness (Proverbs 16:12), and many other practices involving sacrifices and idol worship are named as abominations throughout Scripture.
That sounds like the top 10 on Netflix right now. Ours is a culture that brazenly celebrates Biblical abomination.
“I took them away as I saw good”
Make no mistake about it, God can and will take the United States away, just as He did with Sodom.
We are not God’s chosen people, the Jews are. We are not God’s chosen nation, Israel is. America has been blessed for centuries, but we are another Sodom as more and more turn from the Lord Jesus Christ toward sexual perversion, pride, arrogance, and violence against one another.
Judgment of the entire world is coming, but the judgment of this once blessed nation might come first.
The most powerful nation on earth plays no significant role in the book of Revelation. This is likely because our power will be diminished. It is happening before our very eyes in 2020.
Sodom was destroyed by fire and brimstone. Have you seen what is happening on the west coast?
The judgment of nations is coming. America will be judged harshly.
However, you can be saved from personal eternal punishment by confessing your sins and professing that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Are you willing to do that? Hurry, before it is too late.
