1 John 2:15-18 reads:
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
“This world” does not mean the people, for we are to love everyone. “This world” refers to the world system, which belongs to the Devil. It is our politics, cultures, music, food, and even religions of the world that are not Biblical.
If we “love” these things, then we need to be saved. That is not to say we cannot enjoy a Big Mac or a movie, but we should not love these things as much as or more than church, prayer, and the Bible.
“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
This is your definition of whether or not something is sinful, and it is an extensive list. The lust of the flesh – like fornication, adultery, gluttonous eating, or anything that appeases your sense of touch.
The lust of the eyes – pornography, coveting your neighbor’s house, new cars, and things that you desire when looking on them.
The pride of life – anything that causes us to be prideful or arrogant. This includes “self-help,” “self-confidence,” “self-actualization,” or other New Age methods of achieving a higher state of “self.”
As children of God, we are to rely on the Lord Jesus Christ, not ourselves.
“And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
These lusts and the world itself are temporary. Spiritual things are eternal.
“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.”
There are MANY antichrists out there. 1 John 4:3 defines the spirit of Antichrist as “every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God.” Biblical Christianity is on the decline across the world. Fewer and fewer people are confessing and professing the name of Jesus Christ as Lord.
So the spirit of Antichrist is here. Many prominent mega-pastors like Joel Osteen want us to “be your best self now.” This is a blatant appeal to the lust of the eyes and pride of life, and tens of thousands of people gather to hear the false prosperity gospel taught each Sunday.
The less impact the word of God has on the world, the closer we are to the End.
Christianity had a positive trajectory around the world until just a few years ago. Secularization affected the West long before, but missionaries were spreading the gospel throughout Asia and Africa. However, research shows that the “Christianity” spreading fastest in these regions is New Apostolic Reformation – otherwise known as New Age charismatic apostasy. True, Biblical Christianity is being dwarfed by a false gospel.
We are in the last days, and the Rapture of the Church is imminent.
It is not too late to find yourself a good Biblical (and I would suggest a KJV based Baptist) church and get saved before it is too late.
