“There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.”
Isaiah 48:22
Look around at our nation, our world; our history.
How often has there been peace?
America has seen its share of wars and conflicts – Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Civil, and Revolutionary. We even had a “Cold War” sprinkled in for good measure.
Between these wars has been civil unrest. Right now we have the Antifa/Black Lives Matter uprising, but the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street were in the past decade alone.
We have seen Civil Rights, gay civil rights, and women’s suffrage movements in the past century.
All that is just in this country. That doesn’t count all the dictatorships, starvations, civil conflicts, social unrest, and wars in other nations around the globe.
Think of the dozens of conflicts in Africa and the Middle East. Israel is constantly under fear of attack. China and Russia are busy torturing their own people, and let’s not forget Russia annexing Crimea a few years back.
Many of the smaller nations in Asia are poverty stricken. There are many small dictatorships.
Europe is not often involved in wars, so to speak. Many of their countries have seen major economic issues and an influx of Muslim immigrants during “Arab Spring” that has led to violence in some areas.
South America has drug cartels and socialism to deal with, as many of their governments are corrupt and their people starve.
Now we have COVID-19 and natural disasters on top of all that.
There is NO PEACE!
And these are largely national issues. Each and every one of us deals with internal battles with family members, financial problems, sickness, work stress, COVID stress, lockdowns, lack of sleep, raising children, and many more problems that affect us in our daily lives.
There is NO PEACE!
We are all wicked. We have all told lies, hated someone, said naughty words, lusted after members of the opposite sex, got jealous, gossiped about someone, dishonored our parents, taken something that was not ours, wanted what others had, and/or disobeyed God in any number of ways.
We were born wicked. We will die wicked. This is exactly why we have no peace.
We all have sinned (Romans 3:23) and the wages of sin is DEATH (Romans 6:23).
There is NO PEACE, saith the Lord, unto THE WICKED!
However, if you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, you can be saved from eternal death (Romans 10:9-13).
Jesus paid it all for your sins. He paid the wages of sin. Believing in Him and giving all your problems, worries, and stresses to the Lord will grant you peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
There is NO PEACE unto THE WICKED, unless you call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ today.
