The “good news” is supposed to be so simple that a child can understand it, yet Christians have complicated it so much that much confusion remains.
Here it is:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:9-13
You need to understand that you are a sinner, that Jesus died for your sins, and that he rose again after three days and nights in the tomb, thus, proving that he is the LORD Jesus Christ who has the power to conquer death and the Devil.
As long as you CONFESS that Jesus is Lord and BELIEVE that he died and rose for your sins, you will be saved.
You do not need to be a “good person.” In fact, admitting you’re not a good person is the first step in believing you need a savior.
You do not need to be baptized. You do not need to attend church. You do not need to wear a suit and tie, listen to nothing but hymns, throw your tv in the trash, or give up all matter of entertainment.
Those things should happen naturally if you truly believe and confess the Lord Jesus, but they are not requirements sow salvation.
This is not “easy believism”that requires only a prayer and an acknowledgment that Jesus existed.
The most difficult part of the Gospel is belief; true belief. You must really, truly, honestly, and deeply believe that Christ died for your sins and rose again.
You must believe it more than you believe your next breath is coming.
If you believe that your biological father is more real than your Heavenly Father, you are not saved.
So you must believe with all your heart, soul, and mind that Jesus Christ is Lord. Then you will be saved.
Salvation is simple, but not easy.
Your next breath might not come. Your heart might stop the moment you read this sentence. You might die in a car accident tomorrow or the next day.
Do you know for sure where you will spend eternity? Do you believe in eternity?
If you have any doubt, please consider what the Bible passage above tells you. Consider that the free gift of salvation is available at any moment you choose to accept it.
Confess the Lord Jesus Christ. Believe that He died for your sins. Believe on Him and believe in His resurrection.
Believe and be saved right now.
