“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”
Luke 12:4-5
Many of us have been made aware of our mortality this year. Fear over a virus or of thugs burning down our cities has reached the highest peak of my lifetime.
Those things, at best, can kill your body. That’s it.
We should not fear COVID, Antifa, ISIS, murderers, mass shooters, abortionists, serial killers, drunk drivers, police, or criminals. At worst, they can kill the body.
God, however, casts unrepentant sinners into eternal damnation after death.
For Christians, we die and spend eternity in heavenly paradise with Jesus Christ, Paul, Peter, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Elijah, and all the greats. We get crowns and a great marriage supper. We get to judge angels. We live forever in mansions created by God Almighty without hate, sadness, or fear.
Hellos torment in fire that cannot be quenched. It is suffering worse than anything our minds can comprehend. You’ll grit your teeth so hard from the pain that they might explode, but won’t.
The God who created Hell as a punishment for sin is whom we should fear.
Fear God, not man or disease. Fear the LORD, not death.
Do you know Him? Do you want Salvation?
